My life’s journey that has led me to founding the first non-profit private Hillsdale High School in the North Shore of Ozaukee County has been a long and winding road. Thankfully, my life experiences have equipped me to be uniquely qualified for the task at hand.

My husband and I, along with our twin sons and youngest daughter, moved to Mequon in 1990, in search of low taxes, low crime, quality education, and a strong Special Education program for one of our sons. I was a very active K-12 school parent volunteer in the district and our children thrived in the schools. Also during this time, I volunteered as a Junior Achievement (JA) classroom instructor for the public and parochial schools, and served as a JA board member.

Years later, after my children had graduated and I saw that the schools were experiencing challenges that were not being effectively addressed, I was elected to the MTSD Board of

Education from 2012-2015. This was an invaluable experience that provided me with a strong foundation in school finance, governance, and education practices. Specifically, I was involved in oversight of three grade schools, two middle schools, one high school, the public recreation department, overall covering 3,400 students and 450 employees.

However, throughout my term on the Board of Education, I was in the minority on most of the vote outcomes and could not advance the points of view of so many families in the district. I chose to leave the board after one term to pursue other avenues for improving our schools, and started exploring the idea of launching a charter school in Mequon.

I spent countless hours researching charter schools and continued to develop meaningful relationships I had formed while on the school board, and worked with the area technical college and Lutheran college to explore opportunities for partnering in the future. Also, I have spent the past few years touring Wisconsin voucher, charter and choice schools, as well as a Hillsdale charter school in Indiana to experience their educational excellence firsthand.

Another part of my professional development that will help me lead a charter school has been establishing strong relationships with retired and current academic administrators and educators. This small army of mentors has provided me with invaluable support and advice, and will continue to serve in crucial roles as the charter school is launched.

I am confident that my vocational education background, combined with the expertise in classical education and school administration provided by my mentors and future board members, will create an unparalleled educational experience for our future students.

  • Committed to ensuring children have an opportunity to experience a classical approach to education where parental engagement is valued

  • Experienced in process improvement and following through on commitments with a sense of urgency

  • Results driven and team focused

  • 30+ year career in the financial services industry with a Fortune 500 Company, with the past 20 years spent in leadership roles

My current role is Vice President and Customer Service Manager, covering Wisconsin and parts of Minnesota for an American multinational financial services company. I spent my first 10 years learning the industry through various supporting roles and the last 20 years in leadership roles where I have had the opportunity to help my employees reach their full potential. Sense of urgency is a strength when it comes to resolving problems, executing precisely, following through on commitments, and communicating accurate expectations while holding the team accountable.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a focus on management and finance from Cardinal Stritch University, graduating at the top of my class.

I have spent the last 3 years engaged in local school board activities to make sure parental involvement was not only welcomed, but also heard and addressed. I quickly realized there was a huge push to move away from classical education and parental involvement in our public schools. My husband and I made the difficult decision to pull our child out of public school and move to a private high school. It is the best decision we have ever made. Our child went from just getting by in the public school to thriving at the private school, graduating with 4.0+ GPA and receiving numerous Merit Scholarships from several highly-regarded colleges. I strongly believe that his success was the result of the private high school classical education.

When asked by Cheryle Rebholz to serve on her board for NorthShore Classical Academy, a private classical education high school, I welcomed the opportunity. I believe my personal experience and understanding of how private education benefits the whole child will be an asset to the board and my professional experience will help with leadership within the school.

I spent my career’s first 20 years in sales and management as well as running radio stations in a variety of cities including Chicago, Detroit, Raleigh and right here in Milwaukee.  As one of the founders of WKLH-FM, my reputation was built on my ability to train top-shelf salespeople how to solve customer marketing problems.  My training acumen became my calling card for attracting quality talent.  I’ve always known that you have to develop people if you want to end up with top performers - they rarely land on your doorstep ready to excel. Exceeding sales goals became the norm under my leadership and training programs.

With the advent of the Internet at the end of the 1990s, I transitioned into digital marketing and started my own company, Data Dog Interactive, where for 12 years we provided digital marketing services emphasizing email marketing and creative development. In 2012 I sold Data Dog to Cultivate Communications, an up-and coming marketing services firm, where I became creative director. Concepting communication strategies and messaging was my wheelhouse and allowed Cultivate to help a variety of local and regional companies to flourish with effective MarCom services.

In semi-retirement, I now consult under the name Mister-Message.com. I’m also following my life-long dream of starting a very inventive, one-of-a-kind school, NorthShore Classical Academy.

I am deeply excited to be part of this effort because there truly is a need to redefine education and how students learn; we need to prepare students for the real world.   NCA’s curriculum is so unique, I anticipate that students will become very excited about learning. As the saying goes, “we will teach them how to think, not what to think.”  When I look into the future, NCA is precisely what the community needs now to insure a productive future for our citizens.
